Bay Mau coconut forest – which is about 3km southeast from Hoi An, and known as “the South of the Ancient Town” – is situated in Cam Thanh. In the past, this area was covered by 7000 m2 of water coconut forest. This area is also a Mangrove Forest located near the Cua Dai estuary. After the Geneva Agreement, ie. in the difficult period of revolution, the Bay Mau coconut forest became a shelter and revolutionary base in the war against the French and Americans. Coming here tourists will experience their lives on the river with the basket boating and interesting folk games. This place was also a famous and unique revolutionary base during the war. Due to the large space, it was chosen by the army and people of Hoi An as a revolutionary base in the anti-French and anti-American wars. Perhaps, the coconut forest was associated with the heroic page – ie., the resounding victory – of the army and the people of Hoi An in particular and of Quang Nam province in general. On this trip, we will have a chance to sail into the coconut forest.
